I'll be on WBT/Charlotte again Friday morning at 9:05am ET. You can hear the show live or listen to podcasts of shows on Wednesday and Thursday at http://www.wbt.com/.

Emails from the show this morning:

Doug,
The government taking over businesses and dictating what type of cars are to be built is ridiculous. They can't even run the post office at a profit which is basically a monopoly. Some one for got to tell Obama he was elected president not King or Dictator. Obama, Pelosi, Frank and Dodd they must be stopped. Some one in Washington better wake up fast. ( Did you here Pelosi slip yesterday and refer to Barney Frank as Congresswoman Frank?) WBT needs to find a time slot for you. Have a great weekend.

"A UN panel of expert economists pressed Thursday for a new global currency reserve scheme to replace the volatile, dollar-based system and for coordinated steps by rich countries to stimulate their economies. .." This story said that I read today. The Treasury Secretary said earlier this week he is "open" to the idea. We are moving quickly down the road to a one world currency and the loss of U.S. soviernty. What is amazing is how little opposition have been generated so far.

The liberal news media continues to amaze me. Their opposition to any thing religious is more apparent every day. Especially on the Democratic party's cable network formerly known as MSNBC. From Newsbusters.org, here is the dialogue from a recent episode of "Hardball with Chris Matthews:"

Matthews: Does Palin Think McCain is the 'Anti-Christ?'
By Geoffrey Dickens March 26, 2009 - 18:59

An offended Chris Matthews, on Thursday night's "Hardball," was so shocked by Sarah Palin's claim that there wasn't anybody to pray with on the McCain campaign, that he hurled multiple insults Palin's way, calling her, "a little scary," and asked if Palin thought McCain was, "the Anti-Christ?" Matthews was appalled by Palin's recent revelation that she had trouble finding someone to pray with before her vice presidential debate and the MSNBC host worried such talk about "The Deity in a political environment," wasn't "normal."
Matthews' guest panelists also joined in the fray as the Washington Post's Lois Romano declared, "I think it's bizarre and I think it's judgmental," and Mother Jones magazine's David Corn cackled it was "mean and catty." RNC chair Michael Steele was also knocked for a recent profession of faith, as Matthews blurted: "Why does everything sound like the '700 Club,' with this party now? I mean everything seems to be a religious discussion."
Matthews and his panel didn't just stop at insulting Palin's religious beliefs, they also belittled Palin for her hand gestures and attractiveness. Over video of Palin waving at a campaign rally Matthews ridiculed: "You know, doing that windshield wiper wave though is not serious. That's not a serious wave. I'm sorry that's not what you do when you want to lead the free world. That's, that's more like, 'I'm a celebrity and people like me.'
And just before that snide comment from Matthews, Romano and Corn dismissed Palin for her looks.

An AP story this afternoon says that the U.S. Senate is reviewing how College Football chooses its National Champion. This is as silly as when Congress held hearings about steriods in Major League Baseball. They have NO business being involved in competitive sports. Title IX was a disaster for major Universities as the government tried to force fairness. Many schools have less competitive sports because they can't afford to fund many women's programs to make it even. Whether we like it or not, women's sports at most Universities do not generate enough revenue to pay for itself. Now, Sen. Hatch of Utah wants a review because University of Utah went undefeated last year and didn't play for the National Title. With unemployment in some locales reaching double-digits, can Congress at least appear to be doing serious business? Like the story above calling for a global currency, can the Senate afford to spend time on meaningless issues when President Obama is trying to "remake America."

No wonder President Obama wants to bail out newspapers as part of the economic recovery act of 2009. They continue to try to bail out who is known as the "teleprompter president." This rationalization this morning from the Washington Post posted at http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ says it all:

What the Teleprompter TeachesBy Michael Gerson
WASHINGTON -- It is amazing how swiftly a presidential tendency turns from observation to joke to meme. Barack Obama -- called "the most eloquent political speaker of our time" -- has become known as the teleprompter president.
The issue gathered momentum when Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen read 20 seconds of Obama's teleprompter remarks at a White House ceremony before realizing his mistake. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, at her nomination as head of Health and Human Services, was made to wait in awkward silence while Obama's teleprompter was adjusted. Then came Obama's use of the big-screen autocue at Tuesday night's news conference.

Coverage by Ron Fournier of The Associated Press began: "What kind of politician brings a teleprompter to a news conference?" A recent Politico story asserted, "President Barack Obama doesn't go anywhere without his teleprompter," calling it a "crutch." And in a popular new blog, Obama's teleprompter playfully chronicles its day.
If anyone is to blame for this technological dependence, it is probably Fred Barton, an actor from the 1950s. As author Laurie Brown tells the story, Barton was having trouble memorizing the vast number of lines required for live television. So he conceived of a scrolling screen of typed text -- an idea he shared with Irving Berlin Kahn (the composer's nephew) and Hub Schlafly at 20th Century Fox. Soon the device was used by Milton Berle and actors in various soap operas. In 1952, Schlafly got a call from a man identified simply as the "Chief" who wanted a meeting at the Waldorf-Astoria. It turned out to be former President Herbert Hoover, who ended up using a teleprompter for his remarks at that year's Republican convention.
For politicians, the teleprompter has always been something of an embarrassing vice -- the political equivalent of purchasing cigarettes, Haagen-Dazs and a Playboy at the convenience store.
This derision is based on the belief that the teleprompter exaggerates the gap between image and reality -- that it involves a kind of deception. It is true that there is often a distinction between a president on and off his script. With a teleprompter, Obama can be ambitiously eloquent; without it, he tends to be soberly professorial. Ronald Reagan with a script was masterful; during news conferences he caused much wincing and cringing. It is the rare politician, such as Tony Blair, who speaks off the cuff in beautifully crafted paragraphs.
But it is a mistake to argue that the uncrafted is somehow more authentic. Those writers and commentators who prefer the unscripted, who use "rhetoric" as an epithet, who see the teleprompter as a linguistic push-up bra, do not understand the nature of presidential leadership or the importance of writing to the process of thought.
Governing is a craft, not merely a talent. It involves the careful sorting of ideas and priorities. And the discipline of writing -- expressing ideas clearly and putting them in proper order -- is essential to governing. For this reason, the greatest leaders have taken great pains with rhetoric. Lincoln continually edited and revised his speeches. Churchill practiced to the point of memorization. Such leaders would not haven been improved by being "unplugged." When it comes to rhetoric, winging it is often shoddy and self-indulgent -- practiced by politicians who hear Mozart in their own voices while others perceive random cymbals and kazoos. Leaders who prefer to speak from the top of their heads are not more authentic, they are often more shallow -- not more "real," but more undisciplined.
This is the lasting contribution of Fred Barton and his teleprompter. The speechwriting process that puts glowing words on the teleprompter screen serves a number of purposes. Struggling over the precise formulations of a text clarifies a president's own thinking. It allows others on his staff to have input -- to make their case as a speech is edited. The final wording of a teleprompter speech often brings internal policy debates to a conclusion. And good teamwork between a president and his speechwriters can produce memorable rhetoric -- the kind of words that both summarize a historical moment and transform it.
Obama's goal at his recent news conference was less elevated -- to express his thoughts on the economy with precision, as he faces a crisis in which a stray word could have a tremendous cost.
During a wobbly first two months, Obama has had many problems. But using an autocue isn't one of them. A teleprompter speech represents the elevation of writing in politics. And good writing has an authenticity of its own.

Newsmax is pointing out that many Democrats in Congress are having problems with President Obama's spending plans. There are some defections. A letter from these democrats was sent to the President. We'll have to keep our eyes on this one.

You and I can prove where we were born. Shouldn't the President who has a grandmother that said he was born in Kenya? That brings up questions as to whether Obama actually qualifies to be President under the U.S. Constitution. This joke that Vice-President Biden said the other day claiming that Dick Cheney left an envelope for him with Obama's birth certificate got me thinking. Was Biden, who was speaking in front an audience that included California Gov. Arnold Schartzenegger(an immigrant) subtly suggesting that Obama is an immigrant and therefore not qualified under the "natural born citizen" clause of the U.S. Constitution?

This morning live on WBT/Charlotte at 9:05am Et. You can hear the show live at http://www.wbt.com/. Jim is also VP of the National Association of Chief's of Police. His web sites are:

3 out of 4 people in a recent survey say that Congress should return the money they received from AIG. May be Congress shouldn't be trying to punish the executives of AIG and look at returning all the money they got in campaign contributions. We'll discuss that coming up this morning on WBT.

How can the Obama Pentagon honestly say that there is no global war on terror. B.O. said in his news conference this week that Iraq was no longer the front line in the war. Where is it then? He sent a video to Iran begging them to stop their nuclear weapons program. The term he uses with Iran is that we need to be "patient." Being patient means that Iran is moving further down the road to nuclear weapons. This is a dangerous policy in my opinion.

(Newsbusters.org)

Newsbusters.org has a great commentary this morning on how a CNN reported apologizes on the CNN.com web site for asking President B.O. a tough question at this week's news conference. This is further evidence how the media is so in bed with President Obama and how media types are afraid, including talk show hosts, of talking about Obama. For example, the mainstream media have worked overtime not to cover the story about the lack of B.O's birth certificate. Even some conservative talk show hosts have acted like those of us concerned about it are "nuts." When in reality, there is a lot of evidence to be concerned that Obama is not qualified to be President under the U.S. Constitution. The reason is that they do not want to be described as right wing fanatics, etc. Personally, I never have worried about what people say, or write, about me. We have an obligation to tell the truth as well as give an opinion based on facts(not just speculation). This obligation mandates we ask the tough questions. Here is the newsbusters.org story:

Dear Barack, Don't Get Mad, I Was Just Doing My Job -- Love, Ed Henry, CNN
By Warner Todd Huston (
Bio Archive)March 26, 2009 - 02:39 ET

There is a somewhat amusing article on CNN.com right now. It's not amusing for its wit but for the fact that CNN and Senior White House Correspondent Ed Henry think they need to explain away the "tough exchange" that Henry and Obama engaged in during Tuesday's press conference. Also amusing is the fact that Henry seems to be apologizing to The One for simply doing his job. Finally, it's amusing for the fact that CNN and Henry think they are the news along with the president. It's narcissistic and revealing all at once. On top of all that it is amusing for whom CNN obviously felt the need to explain themselves to because for the last day the left has been outraged over Henry's gall at asking the president a simple question.
If you'll recall, on Tuesday (March 24) Henry asked Obama why he waited days to react to the outrage over the AIG bonuses that Treasury Secretary Geithner wrote into the bailout plan. Avoiding the question, Obama replied with a surly "Because I like to know what I'm talking about before I speak." This exchange had the extremists at DailyKos and the profane folks at Wonkette as well as the rest of the left-O-sphere worked up into a frothy lather over Henry's low down, hornswoggling ways. How DARE he ask the Obammessiah a pointed question! Why it's sacrilege, surely!
So CNN has dutifully whimpered no mas and tried to smooth the waters with this odd article explaining away why that darned ol' Ed Henry had the temerity to ask The One a question. It's an obvious effort to appease the gods of the left-O-sphere and other zealots of the Obamanation. Henry must want a talisman to warn off the lefty heebie-jeebies awfully bad to go this far.

Dear Bubble Boy,Thank you for filling in for Keith over the past couple of days. Ilisten to Keith's show periodically for its entertainment value. He'stypically arrogant, occasionally a bit bombastic, and seeminglyopportunistic in his attacks (Bush hater and Obama hater, whateversells). However, after a couple of days of listening to your politicalhackery and substitute teacher-level oration, I realize that Keith isrelatively fair in his critiques, more eloquent than a slack jawedfill-in lackey, and provides some balance to WBT's stable ofright-wing boobs. Thanks for reaffirming Keith's value by highlightingthe absolute lack or your own.More to come.

Doug,
I think our situation in America is summed up by Dr. Rogers.

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

I am wondering if a citizen can challenge some law signed by Obama to establish hislegal standing to make Obama prove his status.Maybe Obama signs some law, then some citizen refuses to abide by it and uses as hisdefense "Obama is not eligible to make law since he is not a citizen".It seems that this would give the citizen a direct standing in the legal case.

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.htmlObama's birthplace is better documented than the birthplace of JesusChrist, yet I imagine you have no problem believing the holy mangerstory. Ignoring evidence doesn't negate its findings. Incidentally, while you're in town, you should check out the 6,000 year oldTriceratops and Pachycephalosaurus skulls. When the courts rule that an American citizen does not have the standing to question whether Obama is a native born citizen and see the proof that he is, then the Constitution is as well as dead and we are living in a judicial dictatorship.

***

sir,
were you as worried about the constitution when bush was using signing statements so he wouldn't have to follow constitutionally legislated laws as you are about obama and his birth certificate?

***

Doug,Thank you so much for bringing up Barry's Soetoro's(Obma) eligibility status. We need more people like you to bringup this extremely important matter. This is a huge constitutional issue. Thanks again Doug. Keep up the good work.

Got the call from WBT only about an hour before airtime this morning so didn't have time to blog before the program...I'll be on Thursday 9:05-12noon ET and you can listen live at http://www.wbt.com/.

We had some good conversation today about the role that government is now playing in our lives and how President Obama wants to "remake America." It is something that our founding fathers probably warned against. Americans have learned they can elect people who will "give" them something back from the treasury. It is a formula that will only bring failure to our economic system. Bill Glynn (http://www.billyg.net/) was on the air again with me today and he says the national debt, if not remedied, will bring down this country. Do we really believe Obama's plan of spending us into prosperity will work? Take the last few good days with the stock market out of it, the item hanging over our collective heads remains. Here is Bill's latest "rant" on the subject:
http://www.billyg.net/rant.php

We got some good emails on the show today as well:

Sam wrote that we are checking off some of the goals of Communism as was detailed in the congressional record:

Alan wrote:

The Supreme Court shot this down after a balloting vote, I think, in 29 states at over 2 to 1. Term limits is one of the only ways if not the primary way to actually control Government. Basically what we are saying as Citizens, we do not have a King. However, we do live in serfdom beholding to the Lords like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Sheets Byrd. These guys are going to be Senator’s and Congressmen for life. They may as well be Lord’s of their particular States. The only problem with that is they have the power to vote commands to the other states, and to the Citizens that live in those states.

Other news...

The Treasury Sec. Geitner is quoted today as saying he is open to China's central bank Governor who said we need to drop the dollar and go to a world currency. Geitner was speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations. Perhaps Geitner is one of those who believes more in a global approach. This could be a dangerous turn of events.

Columnist James Hirsen(Newsmax.com) quoted Vice-President Joe Biden as telling a joke the other day that Dick Cheney left President Obama's birth certificate in his desk. I sure VP Biden would hand it over to us where we can see it. He was joking in the context of immigrants. Let me remind you, an immigrant cannot be President of the United States under the U.S. Constitution.

An Official Pentagon memo this afternoon(Newsmax.com) says the U.S. is no longer waging a "global war on terror."

So far it looks like the NCAA tournament is going mostly according to plan. Cleveland State was really the only upset over the last two days of the tournament. I'm still thinking the final will include Louisville and North Carolina....

Today, I'm picking Villanova, Maryland, UConn, Purdue, North Carolina, OU, Western Kentucky and Duke....

..Projections in the news today say that Obama will give us a $9.3 Trillion deficit over the next ten years.... It is impossible to really understand this kind of money but if you spent $1 Million per day since Jesus walked the earth, you would NOT have spent $1 Trillion. Only Michael Jackson (and Barack Obama) can spend that kind of money...

We'll start with the issue of how the government is using the ability to tax as a punishment for the executives of AIG and bonuses their received. Look, I don't like the bonuses any more than you but it is outrageous that the government would use the taxing ability. This is what we have talked about for years, the democrats love to use the tax code to control behavior and to reward or punish whoever they choose. Because no legal remedy for the return of the money is available, the dems immediately use the ability to tax as an artificial remedy. It is dangerous when the government an single out a group--any group--and write a specific tax code to impose on them....We'll talk about it the first hour and Bill Glynn...www.billygnet.com...will join me at 6;35p ET to discuss it.

Other news Obama reaching out to Iran with a video.....hope it was better than the video of his appearance last night on Leno where he linked his bowling skills to those who have severe disabilities....Personally, I don't think we should be so sensitive with off-the-cuff remarks but had it been a conservative(or President George Bush), the liberals would have gone crazy. The media is hardly discussing it today when it would have been the lead topic. I can see what MSNBC's headline on the bottom of the screen would have said:

"(politician) insensitive remark. Are all republicans insensitive? "

or "Insenstive remark sparks hearing on Capitol Hill"...or... " (republican) insensitive remark could lead to new legislation" ...or "(Republican) agrees to take sensitivity training"...or "Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass) calls (republican politician) a disabilities-phobe."

here is another: "Obama's bowling remarks question whether all bowlers are insensitive."

From email: You made coffee go thru my nose with that one. LOL.

Doug,

Everybody is so outraged at the $150 Million in AIG bonuses, but nobody is talking about the $18 Billion in bonuses that were paid to banking industry employees with the first round of TARP taxpayer bailout money. Why aren’t they going to tax them at 90% like AIG? The AIG bonuses are a drop in the bucket compared to the banking industry bonuses and the $90 Billion that AIG gave to European banks with the $170 Billion they’ve received so far in bailout money. Why doesn’t Congress try to recover the $90 Billion that AIG gave to European banks?

Also, today Rush Limbaugh played a good audio clip from months ago of a Congress session in which they were talking about the AIG bonuses. So for Tim Geitner to say he didn’t find out about them until March 10th is a joke.

Thanks,
James

Dear Mr. Kellet:
I have never heard of you but you make good points. I like you alot from what you said to that caller. Do you have your own radio show? I agree with what you said. It is unconstitutional to single a certain group of people out and cut their taxes. After all, all people are created equally right? So why does a certain group of people deserve tax cuts? Not all of them deserve it. I'm talking about the lazy people who sit around not doing anything all day. They are leaching off of society. They should not be rewarded for being lazy. It used to be that parents would point out hobos on the street or old run down houses and say, "See that son, you'll end up like that homeless guy if you're lazy, don't go to school and get a good job," or "See that son, you'll end up living in an old shack like that if you are lazy." That doesn't matter anymore because the liberals in congress are making lazyness seem OK by rewarding them. So now, why should anyone work as hard as they can in school, their job, or life in general if the government is just going to bail them out and make it so that they don't have to work hard.
Tell Mr. Berry I love his show. I'm in Horseshoe Bay, TX (just outside of Austin) right now and I've rigged my laptop up to our stereo system at our lake house so my family can listen to his show.

AIG executives use taxpayers money to give bonuses after they ran their company into the ground. Now that's America! We'll be discussing it tonight on KPAM 860. ..story today says that Alaska is the real land of the free in America with New York, Rhode Island, California and Maryland are the states that limit your freedoms the most. No surprise there I imagine. Penn. was #20 in land of the free.

.. great first call from Jim....basically our young people have been taught that capitalism is bad and evil. That is it all based on greed so why are we surprised when they want another form of system?...

...Bill Glynn believes we are bankrupt as a nation. Interesting that China buys up our treasury debt and now China is worried...I'm trying to figure out whether it is good or bad for China if our country goes under economically....

...Personal freedom and taxes go hand in hand in my opinion. The best way to be slave to the government is through unfair taxation. Remember, our founding fathers brought us this country in part as a tax rebellion...

..We had a problem with the Bush administration of calling the enemy what they are...Islamofacists...he used the term one time and quit using it because of so much opposition. Now, President Obama is going to stop using the term "enemy combatants." I named a few possible subsitutes for the President to use(below)...

Jim Kouri had the best line..."the people formerly known as enemy combatants."

..The UN said today they are through with America...can't we tell them we are through with the UN?

It is always nice to wake up to an Obama America....Russian bombers based in Cuba and Venezuela...largest spending by the government in history....more government control of our lives...socialism...
Of course, as a good liberal, B.O. doesn't want his administration to call the terrorists being held as "enemy combatants."

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/14/us/politics/14gitmo.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper

What would he prefer us call them? "Misguided friends?" "Unfortunate Islamic victims?" "Misunderstood patriots?" "victims of American expansionism?"

President B.O. is setting out to fight a politically correct war against terrorists. My good friend Jim Kouri (who will be on with me at 10:05pm ET tonight) has a great take on the issue in his latest column:

It was the best week on Wall Street so far in 2009 but the Dow is still down 49% from it's high and over $3 Trillion in wealth has been lost since Obama won election in November. As for the economy, venture capitalist Bill Glynn will be on with me (9:35pm ET) to discuss the growing concern about the situation. His website is:

Tonight, my buddy Steve Gill will join me on the show at 8:35p ET to discuss the battle between the White House and Rush Limbaugh. Johnathon Alter of News-weak wrote an article today referring to Rush as "black shirted joke" in his column today. You can read the diatribe at www.realclearpolitics.com
