After what turned out to be a disappointing performance at the State of the Union address, President Obama did do something this week that I applaud him for. He agreed to meet with House republicans in an open forum and take questions. I can't remember any thing like that before and could be a sign that Obama realizes things are in such bad shape, he must have republicans on board....
....I agree with something my cousin said this week. I was optimistic about this year until I heard Obama's speech....

Discussion topics today including President Obama's State of the Union speech this week. What can he possibly say? Unemployment is double-digits, housing sales were down 17% in December, and his economic proposals have been a disaster. Nashville based Talk Show Host Steve Gill will join me to discuss these topics and Obama's low approval numbers.
Economist Bill Glynn will be along with me to give us his take on the poor economic numbers and his opinion as to whether the Fed Chairman should be reappointed.
Later, Ben Laden's latest tape may be clue that another attack is coming. Security expert Jim Kouri will join me. We'll also discuss why the President felt a need to use a teleprompter while speaking to elementary school students.
Show coming up at 3:05pm TODAY on WBT./Charlotte.

Air America bites the dust...guess we'll hear dems in Congress complain again about the "conservative monopoly" in talk radio. What is really amazing is how many radio "experts" keep saying that conservative talk radio has "run its course." Amazing, the big stations that are still making money(many of them I host for) have strong conservative hosts who talk ISSUES and not locker room stuff. When pop culture(i.e. Michael Jackson) becomes news, then hosts talk about it and people are interested. The answer is simple. SERVE your audience. They'll love you and respond to your advertisers.

A NEW YEAR
A New Year often create thoughts of a new beginning and 2010 is no different. Following the busy radio schedule of the holiday's, wife and I headed to California for the National Championship Game between Alabama and Texas. We took some time to relax and tour Southern California. Even took a trip to the Reagan Library just north of LA. Margaret worked as a White House intern for Ronald Reagan in the 80s and the Director of the Library was her boss at the time. So, they had a good reunion and the tour was satisfying. A reminder of what a real President was like. Imagine was the world would be like today had Reagan not come on the scene and won election in 1980. Today, President Obama is making unwise decisions that will impose a burden on our nation's future. The socialist policies do have major tax implications and we can only hope in 2010 that a major of his iniatives will be defeated.
