The GOP Debates and the Liberal Media

We have known the national news media's liberal political slant for a long time. What the Republican GOP debates have shown is just how far left of center the mainstream media really is.

More than the usual "as a conservative, do you beat your wife daily" type questions, it has become clear now that the new litmus test for Presidential candidates is a belief in the theory of evolution and the current mantra of global warming.

In one recent GOP debate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry was pestered with the question about whether he supports evolution and global warming as facts. Perry's view about evolution had been caught on tape while campaigning with a young boy whose mother was pushing her son to ask "why he doesn't believe in science?"

That moment caught on tape galvanized the liberal media and the Chris Matthew types who pounced on the theme should a President be elected who doesn't support evolution and global warming.

My point is not to debate the strengths and weaknesses of each theory but to suggest that most Americans are skeptical of both and Gov. Perry's views are very mainstream.

Not, just Gov. Perry but most of the republican candidates have similar views as the Texas Governor. Mitt Romney mentioned his faith as central to his character at another recent GOP debate.

So, what are we learning about the candidates at these manufactured debates? Not as much as I think many of us hoped to do.

We are viewing staged news conferences rather than a debate format that allows a full discussion of the important topics. The chosen media person is asking the questions that they care most about rather than allowing the candidate to explain, in detail, plans to lead the free world.

We see this daily in news coverage but it is bothersome that we allow it as part of the republican debate process. How many of the recent debates have a question aimed at pitting one candidate versus another?

We also see a change of political position from 30 years ago highlighted as if it were a waffle. Haven't you changed some of your views over the last three decades? I have.

What I propose is a real debate with the top three of four candidates (based on polling data) and then a selection of topics from the economy to foreign policy. Allow each candidate to put forth their ideas so we can adequately determine who best has the answers for the current day.

By sticking to the current format, we are allowing the national news media to choose our candidate by choosing the questions they would like to ask.

As for the candidate's themselves, I would rather they stick to President Ronald Reagan's eleventh commandment. "Thou shalt not speak evil of another republican."

What happened to a scandal less administration?

Do you remember when candidate Barack Obama promised us that he would fundamentally change the way government operated and complained about previous administration scandals? Now, it appears his four years are full of political paybacks, cronyism and scandal. It started with his connection with ACORN and corruption with the voting process and now includes illegal gun running and allegedly funneling tax payer money to a solar panel business that the President knew was in danger of bankruptcy.
What happened? Was all this "hope and change" just political branding or was the change just Obama's version of Washington's insider trading. The President rails against rich people and corporations for their sweet heart deals and provides millions of dollars to political friendly operators in the green industry community.
So much for leading us away Mr. President from "politics as usual." His administration's involvement in operation "fast and furious" is enough to raise eye brows to even the most liberal follower. If we believe news reports, the administration--at least to the Attorney General level-- knowingly provided illegal weapons to the Mexican drug cartels and gangs so as to make a negative political point about the second amendment. An operation that has lead to hundreds of innocent people in Mexico murdered along with several American border agents.
If this were the work of a republican administration, you can bet the Chris Matthew types or the Washington Post would be clamoring for justice. At least, you would hear a few democrats talking about "even the appearance of wrong doing" would force the need for a special prosecutor.
A special prosecutor to clean up a mess created by this administration. I certainly hope the young people who thought this was the guy who was going to put politics on a higher dimension are paying attention. They might see that President Obama's words are just that--words.
His constant array of words through speeches has led many to tune out this President. After an orchestrated speech before a joint session of Congress, his approval rating declined. Historically, a Presidential speech with that back drop means a ten point jump. Yet, Mr. Obama is campaigning for four additional years.
He wants four more years while suspicions of this President abound. More people now, rather than before the 2008 election, are engaged in the political outcome and are paying attention.
So, will these scandals make a different to the electorate? I certainly hope so. I'm paying attention.

Beware the ‘Ides’ of September

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has stated he intends to ask the UN’s General Assembly to grant the Palestinian state full membership with 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital. Abbas told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday he would press ahead with plans to ask for a Security Council vote on Friday on Palestinian membership.

This means the UN, if it approves the request, will create a new nation, Palestine. The reason for the request, according to Zakariya al-Agha, the PLO’s top representative in the Gaza Strip, is President Barack Obama’s speech to the UN in September 2010, where he talked about the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within one year. Another factor was might be that President Obama’s first call to a foreign leader went to Abbas.

Who is Abbas, and what constitutes Palestine? Mahmoud Abbas, 75, is also known as Abu Mazen. He graduated from the University of Damascus, and then moved to Egypt to study law and history. After earning a Ph.D in history he continued his studies at Moscow’s Institute of Oriental Studies. In 1957 he became one of the founding members – alongside Yasser Arafat and Khalil al-Wazir (a/k/a Abu Jihad) — of the Fatah movement, which eventually became one of the major Palestinian political parties and the largest faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). In 1980, Abbas was named the PLO's foreign relations director. In 1988, after the assassination of al-Wazir, he took on the responsibilities of organizing the Palestinian resistance in the territories. In 1996 he was named the PLO's secretary-general, effectively becoming the organization's number-two man and Yasser Arafat's successor as chairman of the PLO. He was elected president in January 2005.

The Palestinian Authority held elections in 2006. Hamas, Fatha’s political rival participated for the first time and won 76 of the 132 seats in parliament, which weakened Abbas’ authority. It didn’t take long for Hamas and Fatah forces to clash in the streets. Saudi Arabia brokered a deal on March 17, 2007 between the two factions, resulting in the Palestinian unity government, which lasted for two and a half months. Fighting escalated to civil war status by June.

Hamas took over the Gaza Strip on June 13th, and threatened to execute anyone affiliated with Fatah. Fatah leadership fled to the West Bank city of Ramallah. Abbas dissolved the Unity Government on June 14, 2007. With the support of Israel, the US, and the Arab League, Abbas named Salam Fayad the Palestinian prime minister and swore in a new Palestinian government on June 17th.

Today, the Palestinian Authority rules the West Bank, and Hamas rules the Gaza Strip, two separate political entities. Khaled Meshaal, Chief, Hamas Political Bureau is the leader of Hamas. Abbas has no control over Meshaal, and the US considers Hamas to be a terrorist organization—a fact validated Hamas’ rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

Who is Hamas and what is their objective? The answer is found in Hamas’ Charter:

Article One:
The Islamic Resistance Movement: The Movement's program is Islam. From it, it draws its ideas, ways of thinking and understanding of the universe, life and man. It resorts to it for judgment in all its conduct, and it is inspired by it for guidance of its steps.

Article Two:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine….

Article Seven
As a result of the fact that those Muslims who adhere to the ways of the Islamic Resistance Movement spread all over the world, rally support for it and its stands, strive towards enhancing its struggle, the Movement is a universal one…

The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the links in the chain of the struggle against the Zionist invaders. It goes back to 1939*, …

* The Mufti of Jerusalem made a deal with Hitler to bring the Final Solution to Palestine.

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realization of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: "The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (a hadith, a story, related by both al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Article Eight:
Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes.

Article Eleven:
The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgment Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. Neither a single Arab country nor all Arab countries, neither any king or president, nor all the kings and presidents, neither any organization nor all of them, be they Palestinian or Arab, possess the right to do that. Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Muslim generations until Judgment Day. This being so, who could claim to have the right to represent Muslim generations till Judgment Day?

This is the law governing the land of Palestine in the Islamic Sharia (law) and the same goes for any land the Muslims have conquered by force, because during the times of (Islamic) conquests, the Muslims consecrated these lands to Muslim generations till the Day of Judgment….

Article Thirteen:
Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion. Nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its religion. Its members have been fed on that. For the sake of hoisting the banner of Allah over their homeland they fight. "Allah will be prominent, but most people do not know."…

Knowing the parties constituting the conference, their past and present attitudes towards Muslim problems, the Islamic Resistance Movement does not consider these conferences capable of realizing the demands, restoring the rights or doing justice to the oppressed. These conferences are only ways of setting the infidels in the land of the Muslims as arbitrators. When did the infidels do justice to the believers? …

There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with.…

Article Fourteen:
The question of the liberation of Palestine is bound to three circles: the Palestinian circle, the Arab circle and the Islamic circle. Each of these circles has its role in the struggle against Zionism. Each has its duties, and it is a horrible mistake and a sign of deep ignorance to overlook any of these circles. Palestine is an Islamic land which has the first of the two kiblahs (direction to which Muslims turn in praying), the third of the holy (Islamic) sanctuaries, and the point of departure for Mohamed's midnight journey* to the seven heavens (i.e. Jerusalem)…

* Known as the night journey Muhammad rode the mythical animal, al Buraq, from Mecca to Jerusalem, met Gabriel and prayed in a mosque (the farthest mosque which had not been built), ascended into the 7 heavens, met biblical prophets and Allah, and then returned to Mecca the same night. This is the basis for Muslims’ claim on the Temple Mount.

Since this is the case, liberation of Palestine is then an individual duty for very Muslim wherever he may be. On this basis, the problem should be viewed. This should be realized by every Muslim.

The day the problem is dealt with on this basis, when the three circles mobilize their capabilities, the present state of affairs will change and the day of liberation will come nearer….

Article Fifteen:
The day that enemies usurp part of Muslim land, Jihad becomes the individual duty of every Muslim. In face of the Jews' usurpation of Palestine, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised. To do this requires the diffusion of Islamic consciousness among the masses, both on the regional, Arab and Islamic levels. It is necessary to instill the spirit of Jihad in the heart of the nation so that they would confront the enemies and join the ranks of the fighters….

Article Twenty-Seven
… Secularism completely contradicts religious [Islamic] ideology. Attitudes, conduct and decisions stem from ideologies…

The day the Palestinian Liberation Organization adopts Islam as its way of life, we will become its soldiers, and fuel for its fire that will burn the enemies….

Article Twenty-Eight:
The Zionist invasion is a vicious invasion. It does not refrain from resorting to all methods, using all evil and contemptible ways to achieve its end. It relies greatly in its infiltration and espionage operations on the secret organizations it gave rise to, such as the Freemasons, The Rotary and Lions clubs, and other sabotage groups. All these organizations, whether secret or open, work in the interest of Zionism and according to its instructions. They aim at undermining societies, destroying values, corrupting consciences, deteriorating character and annihilating Islam. It is behind the drug trade and alcoholism in all its kinds so as to facilitate its control and expansion.

Arab countries surrounding Israel are asked to open their borders before the fighters from among the Arab and Islamic nations so that they could consolidate their efforts with those of their Muslim brethren in Palestine.

As for the other Arab and Islamic countries, they are asked to facilitate the movement of the fighters from and to it, and this is the least thing they could do.

We should not forget to remind every Muslim that when the Jews conquered the Holy City in 1967, they stood on the threshold of the Aqsa Mosque and proclaimed that "Mohammed is dead, and his descendants are all women."

Israel, Judaism and Jews challenge Islam and the Muslim people. "May the cowards never sleep."

Article Thirty-One:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is a humanistic movement. It takes care of human rights and is guided by Islamic tolerance when dealing with the followers of other religions. It does not antagonize anyone of them except if it is antagonized by it or stands in its way to hamper its moves and waste its efforts.

Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam*. Past and present history are the best witness to that.

* People of the Book (Christians and Jews), are dhimmis, subjects under Shariah law’s rules for non-Muslims—dhimmitude.

It is the duty of the followers of other religions to stop disputing the sovereignty of Islam in this region, because the day these followers should take over there will be nothing but carnage, displacement and terror. …

Islam confers upon everyone his legitimate rights. Islam prevents the incursion on other people's rights. The Zionist Nazi activities against our people will not last for long….

Now one must ask two questions: (1) what is the status of the Palestinian refugees; and (2) does Abbas speak for all of the proposed new Palestinian state?

Abdullah Abdullah, the Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon, has provided the answer to the first question. Palestinian refugees would not become citizens of the new Palestinian state, an issue he said has been much discussed. “They are Palestinians, that’s their identity,” Abdullah said. “But...they are not automatically citizens. This would not only apply to refugees in countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, Syria and Jordan or the other 132 countries where Abdullah says Palestinians reside. Abdullah said that “even Palestinian refugees who are living in [refugee camps] inside the [Palestinian] state, they are still refugees. They will not be considered citizens.”

So how does forming a new Palestinian state solve the refugee problem? Will they be “returned” to Israel? Sounds like a plan—but wait—isn’t Israel going to be wiped from the map? If so, how can the refugees be returned?

Oh, how stupid of me. The refugees will have been returned before Israel is wiped off the map. That’s what I call planning.

Now, the second question. The answer is found in Article Twenty-Seven, “The day the Palestinian Liberation Organization adopts Islam as its way of life, we will become its soldiers…”

So, the UN is being asked to form a new Palestinian state consisting of two factions at war with each other, with Israel physically in the middle. Hamas regularly attacks Israel with mortars and rockets—an act of war once Palestine becomes a nation. Wow! The UN is going to create a new problem for it to solve. In industry that’s call creating job security. In the real world, that’s called creating mayhem.

Unintended consequences is a popular buzz word these days. The following are some of the unintended consequences that can occur:

▪ Israel will not, cannot, accept the UN changing its borders to 1967.

▪ Hamas will attack Israel from the Gaza Strip province of Palestinian;

▪ Israel will declare war on the new nation of Palestinian if Hama continues attacking it.

▪ Other Arab states will support the new Palestinian state and join the war against Israel.

▪ The US will either enter the war in support of Israel—or—Israel will be wiped off the map—or,

▪ Israel will wipe the Middle East off the map.

What a conundrum.

My day on September 11, 2001

In honor of the tenth anniversary of the 911 attack, I repost this remembrance of the day that I posted in 2009.

As for that day itself, the one thing that I remember most is what a beautiful Tuesday it was. Not a cloud in the sky in Nashville, TN (where I was). It was a very pleasant cool early September day as far as the weather was concerned. I was back in my hometown because I had recently changed jobs after hosting on the radio in Columbus(GA) for 14 years at WRCG/WCGQ. My new job as Program Director of WWTN-FM/Nashville was about three weeks old. So, still getting my feet wet with a new job, I found myself hosting the morning show that morning because our host Steve Gill was out sick. If you know Steve, you know that Steve has to be REALLY sick to miss any time on the air. For me, my first time to host on WWTN. Rhett Harris was hosting news, Kevin Ingram with sports and Pamela Furr was producer. The show began at 5:30am and I don't even remember what subjects were discussing when Pam brought me a note that a "plane has hit the world trade center in NYC." This didn't cause me immediate alarm and I said something on the air about the note but that small planes are known to hit tall buildings in New York City on occasion. I couldn't fathom that this was any thing but that. I had reported on such small craft incidents before and I was confident this was it. I said something like "we'll have more on the story coming up at the top of the hour." A few minutes passed and we were into the top of the hour news at 8am(Nashville time). I'm still not alarmed but Pam switched on the cable news channels(usually the TV was set on ESPN because of the afternoon sports show from the day before). Rhett and I watched the TV coverage showing a large hole in one of the Towers of the World Trade Center and we both said that no small plane had hit that building. I remember saying to Rhett that looks the size of a passenger plane. While we were discussing this during a commercial break, Kevin got ready for his sports minute.
"..Now with Supertalk997 sports, here is Kevin Ingram." I said.
Both Rhett and I went back to watching the TV while Kevin was voicing the sports headlines. Like many of you, while we watched, we saw what we later realized was the second plane that hit the other tower. All I can say is that our reaction in the talk studio and control room was of a jolt. Pam was jumping up and down pointing to the TV she was watching behind the glass that separated control from the talk studio. Her eyes were wide and I know I must have frowned as what I had seen wasn't fully registering. Did I see video of the FIRST plane that hit the building and TV had caught it, or was this a second? Rhett and I looked at each other in disbelief as Kevin was finishing his sports. As soon as Kevin finished, I remember saying something like "Ladies and Gentlemen, I can't believe what I just saw..." And as I described that we just saw another airplane hit the tower, I said something like "how can this happen?" and Rhett blurted out "we are under a terrorist attack!" and then said something about a Tom Clancy novel. I looked at Rhett and had to acknowledge he was right. It was from then, we went into a full scale news mode realizing this was the biggest story we would likely cover in our lifetime. As I learned in the next couple of minutes, WWTN didn't have a way to patch a national broadcast onto our air.
An unbelievable situation I thought as in the past my stations always had a way to go immediately to network coverage. This was one of the short comings of the station that I had been recently hired to fix. I'm yelling to Pam to get an engineer and she responded quickly realizing the importance. With a sense of urgency our engineers had our network coverage (ABC) up and running within the hour. Until then, I commented on what what I knew. The swift action by our team may still have beaten our competition to the punch. I was told later that we had a 90 share the week after 911 as our station became the station of information during the immediate aftermath.

One of my staff, James, who was our second amendment guy at the station, came to me and said that he was "packing," and was ready if the "bastards tried anything around here." Gaylord Security had locked down the hotel and radio station area and James shadowed me the rest of the day. I was too busy to worry about a terrorist hitting us.

My other recollection of the day is speaking with my GM in the studio after we had gone to network coverage and saying to him "we are at war...this is big...and I'm not sure we know at this moment how big this really is...but...it is big." In a decision that I have come to have great respect, John Padgett, General Manager for WWTN-FM. WSM-FM and WSM decided on the spot not to air any commercials...until further notice! The day itself at the station is a blurr but I do remember driving home late that afternoon and realizing how eerie it was that no planes were flying. My house was near the airport and if you know how busy the Nashville airport is, it would have made an impression on you as well. Our station, WWTN-FM, built on the listeners that trusted us that day and we became a force in the Nashville market for over two years. I will always be thankful for the staff who were top notch professionals that day!

Random Thoughts after GOP Debate last night

The question regarding "evolution" last night at the republican debate irks me. Once again, you can't possibly be a President who questions "science." I would like to see a candidate answer that the creed of the nation as described in the Declaration of Independence(kind of important document for you public school kids who haven't heard of it) says we were created by a Creator and that our RIGHTS come from the Creator and NOT from government. This is a foundational belief of our country. Our republic came from this utmost belief. If people want to debate whether we came from snails, let them but answer that America is a nation who believes that our rights come from God himself.....

btw, for those hammering RP on the SSI is a "ponzi" scheme. It fits the definition. Taking money from new "investors" to pay off previous "investors." No one over the age of 50 would be affected by any change that eventually(and it will) takes place. It only makes sense to give younger people a better option of what to do with the money that is taken out of each paycheck.....

Republicans know that Obama's speech will be so lame tonight they aren't even going to do the traditional "rebuttal."

... thought the republican debate went well last night. Perry, Romney and Bachman all looked like a President. Tonight, we'll see the same 'ol same 'ol from Mr. Speechmaker with no substance B. Obama. What a difference.

1. Looks like the republican party electorate are good with the candidates in the race after all. Especially after Texas Governor Rick Perry got into the race. That is going to be a blow to people like Chris Matthews of MSNBC who constantly says even republicans do not like the "crowd" in the race.

3. Should Governor Perry really tone down the rhetoric? The latest call comes from Wall Street Journal and former Reagan speech writer Peggy Noonan. She writes that he has a "Popping off problem." Personally, I find it refreshing for a candidate to say what he thinks and I believe so do the electorate. If you think the Fed chairman is "almost treasonous" for printing more money, why not say so?

4. Douglas County is on a list of the Top 10 counties where there is economic growth.

During Month-Long Debt Talks, Liberal Media Savaged Tea Party Conservatives as Ignorant, Irrational, Irresponsible and Even Terrorists

For the past month, as the debt talks slogged on in Washington, the so-called mainstream media unleashed increasingly hysterical attacks on the Tea Party and anti-tax hike conservatives — epitomizing the liberal elite’s supreme annoyance at the push to curb federal spending and contain the size of government.

The media’s disdainful language has ranged from the merely condescending (wondering whether the Tea Partiers in Congress actually knew how things worked, or referring to them as children), to outright hostile (likening the Tea Party to al Qaeda or other terrorist groups). Here are some of the choicer examples MRC has collected over the past 30 days:

Just a Bunch of Ignorant Boobs

“Do you think that Republicans – particularly those in the freshman class over in the House – understand just how serious this debt limit crisis is?...Do you think they understand what might happen if you can’t raise this debt limit here?”

Howard Fineman: “What’s going on here, as I see it, is a kind of slow motion secession. This is an ending of the social compact. If the U.S. AAA credit rating will suffer if the debt ceiling issue isn't resolved then why worry? It doesn't matter what the rating is unless you borrow money. Stop borrowing! Spending less than your income is what this is all about in the first place...No media person today can understand what Sen. Harry "Ass" Reid said on the Senate floor about the lack of borrowing power for business because of the impasse. Both CNBC and Fox Business commentators were confused over what Reid was saying....
In other words, Reid lied....Rush Limbaugh says republicans are being "played" and no to any deal...
Economic growth figures today are just over 1% for the quarter....unacceptable...the misery index for Obama is worse than it was for Jimmy Carter in 1980....The dems seem to be upset that the stock market hasn't crashed....I think they were hoping it would and that would scare Americans into siding with them rather than the conservatives and the tea party...

Presbyterian Church

Word is that the National Presbyterian Church will soon ok the acceptance of those with sexual behavior that is opposite of traditonal church teaching. No doubt, the national news media will applaud the courage that the Church is making by "reaching out" to those who have been historically excluded from the faith because of their activities. The battle is on within almost every denomination who has in the past held several important tenants of the faith. Most notably, the virgin birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ along with the understanding that his death provided blood acceptance for our sins. In addtion to the attack on the "tenants" of faith, many have been applauded liberal theology that strays from the traditional teaching of the Bible as the in-errant word of God. The very foundation of faith itself.
So, because the media will most certainly be applauding the changes, we thought of a few possible story lines for them.

Chicago TV station story today that letters detailing terrorist plans to detonate nuclear devices in the US mirrors the story line of my guest at 1am ET tonight. Lee Boyland wrote several years ago his first book "Rings of Allah" which, in part, was based on his nuclear weapons experience in the U.S. Military. The premise is the detonation of multiple nuclear devices within the border of the US. Lee has been a frequent guest on my shows as an expert on Radical Islam and the Middle East.

Matt Burke bullet points for Monday's BLOGCAST at 10am ET

1. If the act is unconstitutional, why didn't Judge Vinson order an injunction to stop it from being enforced? Answer, he did not think he needed to becuse he is expecting the Federal government to follow his order. IF HHS starts implementing Obamacare in any of the 23 states that sued, then they can be brought in for contempt. HHS' conduct is being closely monitor.
2. What type of schedule are we looking at to take this to the Supreme Court? the Virginia ruling of Judge Hudson (which found the individual mandate unconstitutional is being heard by the 4th Circuit on May 10. The Michigan rulings where we lost has been granted an expedited hearing, but a date has not been scheduled. The DOJ has not yet filed to the 11th Circuit for the Florida ruling.

3. Has Judge Vinson ever been overturned by the 11th Circuit? No, which goes towards the amount of respect his decisions hold.
4. Do we have to wait for all of these appeals to be decided separately before we can go to the Supreme Court? No, the cases do not have to be combined, and the decisions in the 4th and 6th circuits should be good enough to take it to the Supreme Court later this year. That would mean a decision would be published before June 30, 2012.
5. Do we have to worry about Justice Kennedy? No, these cases are turning on commerce clause analysis, and Justice Kennedy has ruled favorably in the past to restrict Congressional overreach in Commerce Clause analysis.

6. I am hearing commentators mention an expedited appeal directly to the Supreme Court, bypassing the Court of Appeals. Do you expect that to happen here? No, that is a Rule 11 Motion, and that is rarely granted by the Supreme Court, and there is no emergency for an expedited hearing.

We can also talk about whether Justice Kagan will recuse herself.

After a really busy holiday period and first week of the New Year, January usually begins a more quiet time for the radio shows. You never know so please check back often to see.
As for the issues:

The left continues to make as much noise as possible regarding the shooting in Arizona.
"See, another gun state shooting!"
"Sarah Palin is at fault."
"Vitriol politics the cause!"

All of these are the typical liberal knee-jerk reactions to any thing involving guns. "I've got you in my sights" is another one we often use.

While the left points the finger at us, we should remember that we in the right on the gun issue. We have a God given right to defend ourselves.
Liberal politicians who want to take attention away from the Obamacare disaster will be bringing an assault weapons ban bill back to the floor of the Senate. Remember, an assault weapon was NOT used in the Arizona attack. But, why worry about the details?
